Get ready for Boys & Girls Club Week, April 16-20

We’ve got a great calendar of events coming up for Boys & Girls Club week 2012 later this month… will you be there?

Join the fun for Art EXPLOSION Night on Monday, as we have fun doing mural painting, dancing, face-painting, and dress-up with a picture booth. In addition to a variety of other great art projects, we’ll have karaoke for our future stars. Clubs will be working on a collaborative art project. Come find out all of the great art programs the BGCTM has to offer! (5-7 p.m. at all participating Clubs.)

The Battle of the Brains exposes members to science in a hands-on environment, which includes experiments and games. The event focuses on education, teamwork and communication. Activities include creating slime, making a lava lamp, immersion activities, creating and testing a launcher and experimenting with geodes. Before the event, each club/site is required to create a science display and the night will culminate with a Battle of the Brains Bowl. The display will then be brought to DWR and judged on it scientific method, with top projects awarded. (5-7 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds site, with all Clubs represented.)

Wednesday, April 18: BOYS & GIRLS NITE OUT

Bring out the big tent – the circus is in town! During this annual highlight of Boys & Girls Club Week, the Club transforms into a carnival with food and games like “Chicken in the Pot” and “Ring Toss” where hundreds of kids (and the adult volunteers they’re paired with) can win prizes! Performers from Circus Circus will join in the fun with their world-famous stage show. We’ll also have a great FREE dinner! (4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds site, with all Clubs invited – ask about transportation.)

Thursday, April 19: MINUTE TO WIN IT DAY

Our members will attempt to break a world record by participating in the country’s biggest tag game ever! We will play a giant tag game at the same time as clubs around the country. We will then go straight into Minute to Win It madness! We will have many stations where the kids will attempt to beat challenging games in a minute or less. Winners will receive prizes of all sorts! (4:45-6:30 p.m. at all participating Clubs.)

Family Night at the Nevada Discovery Museum. Any child who shows their Club I.D. will get their family in for free at the museum from 5:30-8:30 pm. This will be an exclusive event for Club members only. The museum will be providing programming for the evening. We will have free food and we will also be having a raffle. Shuttles will run from the Club’s Donald W. Reynolds location on 9th Street and Neil Road facilities as parking is limited at the museum. (5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Nevada Discovery Museum.)
