The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows begins registration May 1 for exciting summer camp programs including traditional day camp, field trips, specialty camps and more at sites in Reno, Sparks and Fernley. Registration and Club membership orientations are available May through June for the ‘Out of this World’ themed summer camp program which runs June 15 – August 7, 2015 (Reno and Sparks sites) and June 1 – August 7 (Fernley site). Early registration is recommended as space is limited for specialty camp programs. Summer camp enrollees get all-day activities, breakfast and lunch included, and supervision by adults who make it a priority to keep the activities fun during the summer break.
Summer camp registration and Club member orientations are available at these youth camp sites (ages 6-12): Donald W. Reynolds Facility, Neil Road Youth Site, Joe Mitchell Community Center in Lemmon Valley, Billinghurst Middle School, Fernley Intermediate School, Boys & Girls Club at Project Solution Community Complex and the William N. Pennington Facility. Youth site summer hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Fernley hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).
Teen Center summer sites (ages 13-18) include: Donald W. Reynolds Facility, William N. Pennington Facility, Boys & Girls Club at Project Solution Community Complex and Fernley Teen Center at Fernley Intermediate School (hours vary at Teen Center sites).
All summer Club members take part in organized activities ranging from sports, art-and-crafts, dance and computers. Frequent field trips allow kids to visit places such as Wild Island Family Adventure Park, Roller Kingdom, Jump Man Jump and more. Throughout the summer, the Club also features specialty summer camp programs focusing on diverse activities such as robotics, cheer, ceramics, equestrian, science, swim and many more. Fees for traditional summer camp are $40 per week (additional fees apply for field trips) and financial assistance is available.
Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows hosts its annual Kickoff to Summer & BBQ events, Saturday, May 2 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Fernley Intermediate School and Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Facility in Reno. Both events feature FREE annual Club memberships for attendees, FREE barbecue lunch, bounce houses, face painting and more. Parents and/or guardians can attend membership orientations and register for summer camp programs. Orientations required for new and renewing Club members ages 6-12. Annual Club membership runs from June 1 – May 31.
