RENO SPARKS SPECIALTY CAMPS

Looking for exciting camps for special interests like science or swimming? Check out the Club’s array of summer Specialty Camps! These camps run in addition to and in conjunction with the Traditional Day Camp program at all sites, so campers can enjoy their Specialty Camp and then rejoin the Day Camp program before or after their assigned specialty camp time.  Specialty Camps are only offered at three youth sites in Reno and one site in Fernley, including the William N. Pennington Facility (1300 Foster Dr., Reno), Donald W. Reynolds Facility (2680 East Ninth Street, Reno)  and Fernley Intermediate School (320 US Highway 95 A South, Fernley). Register for Specialty Camps at the site which the camp is offered, Weeks 1 – 9 during the Summer Camp Program.

 

Price includes weekly Traditional Day Camp fee of $40 / week. 

Rocket Camp

Houston…There is no problem we can’t solve. Don’t alienate yourself from this intergalactic camp. Sight UFOs during our disc golf, fly DRONES, test projectiles, build and launch your very own model ROCKET! 3…2…1… Blast off on this camp that’s out of this world!

Rocket Camp Rocket Build Camp

CKC is an exciting and memorable opportunity for members to experience the many possibilities college has to offer. Club members return to this camp year after year with trips to the Nevada Football Stadium, Cultural Diversity Center, Planetarium, Engineering labs, and Art Museums. Members are able to interact with college faculty and learn about the variety of paths their knowledge may lead them to.

Rocket Camp Rocket Build Camp

The future is here! From the real Mars Rovers to the fictional BB8s and C3POs we will grasp how robots are part of our lives and future. In this camp you will master LEGO engineering techniques and learn how to program LEGO robots to solve complex issues.

Science Camp

Science Camp Mad Science Camp

Science can be crazy…but that’s what makes it fun! This camp provides young scientists the opportunity to participate in a variety of science experiments, all of which are designed to encourage learners to question, investigate, and play with different materials and liquids. From lava lamps to crystals and cool (but safe!) explosions scientists will learn the incredible abilities of having various substances interact!

Hiking

Stream & Trails Camp

This epic camp will get your kid ST(R)EAMed up to go back to school. This camp makes the great outdoors into the most interactive and exciting classroom. We will create our own adventures in nature and gain insight from teachers and wilderness guides. We will explore Science, Technology, (Reading), Engineering, Art and Math!

Art Explorers Camp

Art Explorers Camp

Explore art through the ages in this hands-on camp! Renaissance to Pop, crayons to acrylic … Club members will experiment with different art mediums each day to create their own masterpieces from art movements throughout history. All art materials are provided!

Tennis Camp

Choose a tennis camp with the ultimate combination of athletics and fun with the Sierra Junior Tennis Association. By offering a perfect mix of match play, drill work and strategy sessions, members will create memories to last a lifetime at this junior summer tennis camp! Must wear tennis shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and bring a water bottle.

Equestrian Camp

Equestrian Camp

Club members receive one full week of instruction and activities, including the basics of horse care and management, how to saddle and groom a horse, safety etiquette, and actual horse riding. A free T-shirt, bag and water bottle are included!

Junior Giants Baseball

Junior Giants Baseball

Take me out to the ballgame! Junior Giants is a FREE, non-competitive and innovative baseball program for boys and girls ages 5-12 years old, with separate teams for T-ball (5-6 year olds), Minors (7-9 year olds), and Majors, 10-13 year olds). Sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, each child receives a specialty T-shirt and hat.  A glove is also available for those who meet the needs criteria. The program’s focus is on the fundamentals of baseball and encouraging players to live healthy and productive lives.

Build friendships, learn sportsmanship and become part of a team! Club members will be split up into random teams at the beginning of camp. Each team will create their own team name, logo and banner. Teams will spend the week competing in fun and crazy sports challenges and games in order to earn team points and the title of Extreme Team Champions!

Swim Camp

Swim Lessons

Have some fun in the sun and learn how to swim this summer! Swim lessons in this camp provide an excellent opportunity to get your child swimming. Lunch is provided daily.

SMART Girls Camp

GoGirlGo! Camp

GoGirlGo!, is an award winning program about sports education, and works to improve the health of girls and keeps them involved in physical activity by enhancing their lives physically, emotionally and socially.  In this camp, girls will experience teamwork, goal-setting, journaling, leadership training, and fun workouts to get fit! We will end the week with a luncheon and a special guest speaker!

Geek Squad Academy

Geek Squad Academy is a two day, hands on technology camp aimed getting kids involved with technology and content creation. Students will have to opportunity to learn about things like 3D modeling, Digital Music creation, Video Production, Programming robots, and much more!

Engineering Camp

Engineering Camp is here! Our young engineering minds will have the opportunity to explore and dive into the many opportunities engineering has to offer. With hands-on activities members will participate in the problem solving, design, and creating processes of engineering. Members will gain hands-on experience in creating and designing their own small scale buildings, cars, helicopters, etc. while solving real-word problems related to Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, and Environmental engineering.

Skate Camp

Green Thumb Garden Camp

When children participate in gardening, the fruits and vegetables that they are inspired to eat will no doubt have a positive effect on their body, and minds. The act of gardening itself promotes a healthy members!! Kids LOVE to get their hands and feet in the dirt. Time in the garden allows for team building and promotes communication skills. Planning a garden, planting the seeds and watching them grow give kids a sense of purpose and responsibility. Making sure that the plants get enough fertilizer, water and sun fosters mindfulness. The concepts learned while gardening can show kids a deep respect and responsibility for taking care of our planet.

First Tee JR. Golf Camp

Learn full-swing, pitching, chipping and putting basics!  The camp is activity-based with lots of games and will provide students with the opportunity to learn a game they can play their entire life. First Tee of Northern Nevada Golf Camp with be taught by LPGA and PGA professionals.

Marge’s Camp

Come experience the Great Outdoors at Camp Wasuii in Graeagle, California
Overnight camping, crafts, adventure, sports, canoeing, hiking, swimming, campfires, and much more! SPACE IS LIMITED!

Cheerleading Camp

Cheerleading Camp

Campers are instructed on the basics of cheerleading including: dancing, motions, jumps, chants, cheers, tumbling, stunts, spirit and performance skills. This is a perfect camp for the beginner cheerleader or the cheerleader that just wants to have fun. This is a NON competitive program instructed by our very own Nevada Wolfpack cheerleaders.

Motivate Youth Camp

Motivate Youth encourages kids to take care
of their bodies and live an active healthy
lifestyle. Kids will have fun while learning the
importance of exercise and eating healthy
foods!
 Participants must be at DWR, ready to go by 10am sharp!
 Tennis Shoes and active wear required.
 Bringing a water bottle is highly encouraged.
