The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows made history when it was founded in 1976. The first Club occupied a facility just south of the intersection of Terminal Way and East Plumb Lane in Reno. In late 1981 the current facility opened on East Ninth Street.
In September of 2004, through the generous support of the Reno/Sparks community, history was made when our East Ninth Street facility transformed into the 80,000 square foot Donald W. Reynolds Facility. Today, this facility serves youth throughout the Reno/Sparks area as a beautiful, safe space for youth to become the best version of themselves.
Today, the Club continues to make history. The Club runs 40+ sites throughout Northern Nevada, including the Donald W. Reynolds Facility on East Ninth Street and the William N. Pennington Facility on Foster Drive in Reno. Other sites across the state include sites in Ely, Fernley, Winnemucca, Panaca, and Tonopah. We also break the mold in early childhood development by providing developmental programming for youth ages 0-5 at our four Early Learning Centers.
Our transportation program provides upwards of 90,000 bus rides from local schools to our Club sites, and our food program serves 400,000- 600,000 meals to our members every year. In an effort to keep our services as affordable as possible, Club membership costs just $20 per year, even though we invest nearly $3,000 annually into each of our members. No child has ever been turned away due to the inability to pay.
